Why Qigong?
West Kirby Aikido club has existed independently since 1984 and attendance has been through plenty of ups and downs.
Even before the pandemic there has been a decline in appetite for traditional Aikido training (and we haven’t been ‘traditional’ since before the millennium).
There is however, a sustained demand for Mind and Body activities such as Tai Chi, Yoga, and Qigong, many people access these classes via their gym memberships and there are already established Tai Chi and Yoga classes in the Concourse.
For a couple of decades much of our regular training features Qigong, more so since the pandemic, when for two years, social distancing became an important driver of class content.
We primarily do Qigong to attract people looking for a brief starter Mind and Body class while avoiding confusion and conflict with already established classes.
